DESCRIPTION:Presenting Sponsor: BancorpSouth\n\n\n\nThe Mayors' Prayer Breakfast is one of the Eastern Shore Chamber's most well-attended events. The breakfast is held in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer. More than 400 business leaders join the mayors of Daphne\, Fairhope and Spanish Fort for an inspirational and uplifting event. This year's Mayors' Prayer Breakfast is shining a light on the growing opioid epidemic facing Alabama. Keynote speaker Larry Snow will share his personal journey to recovery and how he's using his experiences to help others find their way out of addiction.\n\n\n\nKEYNOTE SPEAKER: "A Personal Journey to Recovery"\n\nAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)\, in 2017 Alabama providers wrote 107.2 opioid prescriptions for every 100 people. That's the highest prescribing rate in the country & almost twice the national rate of 58.7 prescriptions. \n\nSource: https://www.cdc.gov/drugoverdose/maps/rxrate-maps.html\n\n\n\nThis year's Mayors' Prayer Breakfast keynote speaker is Larry Snow\, the Peer Recovery Support Coordinator at the Council on Substance Abuse - NCADD. Snow works tirelessly every day to battle the opioid problem facing our state through the Alabama Opioid Assistance Project. This is a statewide program that offers opioid prevention and recovery support. Snow will share his personal story of recovery and tell us how he's now working with others to escape the addiction.\n\n\n\nBefore joining COSA- NCADD\, Larry worked as a program assistant at the Collegiate Recovery Community at the University of Alabama. He graduated with a degree in psychology and a minor in addiction and recovery from Alabama in 2018. He is currently a graduate student in the School of Social Work in the BAMA by Distance Program.
