DESCRIPTION:The Mobile Symphony will offer a FREE string quartet performance Friday\, August 18\, 7:00 p.m. in the Willson Rehearsal Hall of the Larkins Music Center\, 257 Dauphin Street in downtown Mobile. Members of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra - Jenny Gregoire\, violin\; Enen Yu\, violin\; Razvan Berindean\, viola\; and Guo-Sheng Huang\, cello - will perform a program that contrasts modern and classical music. The program opens with Philip Glass' String Quartet No. 2 "Company\, " originally composed as theater music\, and one of Franz Schubert's most famous and recognizable quartets\, String Quartet No. 13\, D 804\, Op. 29 "Rosamunde." The performance is made possible by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
