Description
Join Mobile Baykeeper for the 2nd Apple Snail Roundup of the year on Saturday, October 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Langan Park and help prevent this invasive species from spreading to the Delta and the Bay by removing it from Three Mile Creek. Please come and go when you can - no need to stay the whole time!
About the event: Mobile Baykeeper hosts two Apple Snail Roundups each year at Langan Park along Three Mile Creek. Apple Snails are an invasive species that destroy habitat by eating vegetation along streams and river banks. Volunteers will help find and capture adult and juvenile apple snails, as well as remove apple snail eggs.
** IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN CANOE, KAYAK, OR SMALL BOAT, PLEASE BRING IT!
We will need as many boats there as possible to remove the snails from the pond at the park. Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting a little dirty. Cleanup tools, safety items, and drinks are provided.
