Marine Toys for Tots Fund-Raising Event

On Sunday, December 13, the US Marines in dress blues will be at the Mobile Causeway location from 6 pm to 8 pm, to pick up the donated toys, take photos with your family and wish everyone a happy Christmas. If you are interested in participating, please drop off an unwrapped toy or consider donating by check to Toys for Tots. You can place donation items in the Toys for Tots collection box at the restaurants. All donations will be distributed locally to needy children. The United States Marine Toys for Tots Program began in 1947 distributing 5000 toys to less fortunate children who could go without a new toy during the holiday season. Presently, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually. For more information please visit toysfortots.org. A top-spot for hand-shucked and fire-grilled oysters, the Original Oyster House has also become legendary for its homemade gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp, as well as handcrafted desserts including its famous Peanut Butter Pie. In 2016, the Original Oyster House became the first restaurant in the state of Alabama to recycle oyster shells through the Alabama Coastal Foundation. In November of 2020, an estimated 14.5 million oyster shells to date have been recovered from participating Gulf Coast restaurants.
