Mobile Bay Now is the newest brand of a 10+ year old, Alabama owned media network. Our other brands include Hville Blast, Bham Now, Montgomery Up, and The Bama Buzz serving over 1 million Alabamians and supporting 100's of local and regional clients. We only cover exciting, useful, uplifting news - no crime or politics. Then, here’s what you need to be the right fit: Mad writing skills—You can turn even the most drab topic into engaging, accurate copy. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can write 3+ articles/day. You're adept at making deadlines and aggressively aim to break stories first. You know how to take your own visuals or source assets. You're passionate about digital media and learning the latest tools. You're trained on SEO and AI best practices and know how to use them to get your content seen. You love talking with people and asking smart questions to get to the inside scoop. Strong news judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy and ethical reporting. You + your camera (or phone) are BFFs— You’ve spent some time practicing how to frame that perfect shot. You’re comfortable being in front of or behind the camera. You're skilled at journalistic integrity and know how to dig for the facts and cite your sources. Team player is your middle name. You’re organized and efficient — You know how to manage multiple projects at one time without getting flustered. Communicating professionally in email, over the phone or in a presentation with clients, CEOs or strangers on the street comes naturally to you. You welcome feedback and constructive criticism and know that learning from others is how you will improve. Must haves: B.A. in Journalism or related. 3+ years of professional writing experience in a news capacity. Experience with digital publishing platforms like WordPress. Experience producing content for social media. Strong knowledge of the Mobile Bay area. Willing to publish on weekends or off hours when needed.
