BAY MINETTE, Ala. — June 16, 2026 — Coastal Alabama Community College and Baldwin Preparatory Academy are proud to announce the launch of a new Dual Enrollment Stand-Alone Practical Nursing (PN) Program beginning in Fall 2026. This innovative partnership will provide high school students with a direct pathway into one of Alabama’s most in-demand healthcare professions while earning both high school and college credit.
The program represents a significant advancement in workforce development and healthcare education in Baldwin County, offering qualified students the opportunity to begin their nursing education while still enrolled in high school. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared to pursue licensure as Practical Nurses and enter the healthcare workforce or continue their education in advanced nursing pathways.
The stand-alone Practical Nursing Program is designed to address the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals across the Gulf Coast region. Through a rigorous curriculum that combines classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and clinical training, students will develop the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required for success in nursing and patient care.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities and creating meaningful career pathways for students,” said Dr. Tyler Sturdivant – Associate Dean of Nursing, Coastal Alabama Community College. “By offering a dual enrollment Practical Nursing Program, we are empowering students to gain valuable healthcare credentials while accelerating their transition into high-demand careers.”
The program will be housed through Baldwin Preparatory Academy’s career and technical education framework while leveraging Coastal Alabama Community College’s expertise in nursing education. Students will receive instruction aligned with state nursing education standards and benefit from hands-on learning experiences in healthcare settings.
“Baldwin Preparatory Academy is dedicated to providing students with innovative opportunities that connect education to workforce needs,” said Adam Sealy – Principal, Baldwin Preparatory Academy. “This Practical Nursing Program offers students a unique opportunity to graduate high school with a significant head start toward a rewarding healthcare career while serving the needs of our local communities.”
The launch of the program aligns with regional workforce priorities and supports healthcare providers seeking qualified nursing professionals. Graduates of the program will be positioned to contribute to hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician offices, and other healthcare organizations throughout the region.
