Free Bird & Conservation Expo Set for Oct. 9

FAIRHOPE, AL – Whether it’s watching a raptor show, building a birdhouse, or creating art with peacock feathers, there will be something for every age at the upcoming Bird & Conservation Expo, a highlight of the 17th annual John L. Borom Alabama Coastal BirdFest, presented by South Alabama Land Trust.

The Expo, set for Saturday, Oct. 9, 10am to 2pm at the Halstead Amphitheater in Fairhope, takes place on the last day of the four-day bird and nature festival that attracts participants from across the United States and Canada. The Expo is free and open to the public.

Activities and exhibits include the raptor show, touch tanks, face painting, live animals, story time, the right way to plant a plant, building birdhouses, building bird nests, a litter race in a kiddie pool, and more. There will also be a food truck and popsicles, plus lots of information on birding, native plants, and conservation in general.

BirdFest features guided birding and nature trips, boat excursions into Mobile Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, workshops and seminars on hummingbirds, beginner and advanced birding, nature photography, building a backyard habitat, planning a national or international birding tour, evening events, and more. Registration ends Sept 26.
