DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 14\, 2025\, from 3 to 6 pm\, Mobile Museum of Art will host their annual Makers Market & Open House featuring an artisan market\, live music\, food trucks\, art activities\, and free admission to the Museum.\n\n\n\n"Our Makers Market represents the best of the Museum's mission statement: 'To Bring People Together and Inspire Creativity through the Power of Art\,'" said Executive Director Jon Carfagno. "Each year\, this program is a highlight of the summer months\, a day filled with smiles and fun for visitors of all ages." Vendors will be offering a variety of handmade items\, such as jewelry\, pottery\, self-care products\, and more. Dennis Gould will provide live music\, and tasty treats will be available from Shux Yall\, frios\, La Fruiteria & La Taqueria\, LuLu's Sno Shack\, and TH Station.\n\n\n\nThe Museum will also have galleries full of masterworks by renowned artists in special exhibitions\, including:   JUAN LOGAN: Without Stopping\, a special exhibition by internationally celebrated artist Juan Logan titled Without Stopping\, which features an epic commissioned painting of the same name. The 6   by 16-foot composition is Logan's response to his learning about the people and histories of Africatown.\n\n  Vuzumazulu: The Black Solarium   An Abantu Cultural Expose by Abaddon "Apollo" Ben Yakongo: Step into Vuzumazulu: The Black Solarium\, a mystical journey through time and heritage that awakens the soul. This exhibition unveils the hidden stories of Africa's past\, reconnecting us to the profound depth of Abantu culture.\n\n  CRYPTIC UNDER WING: Glass and Mixed Media by Rachel Wright   This exhibition utilizes glass\, photographs\, and textiles to create sculptural work about the natural world. Through her exploration of the Delta and the surrounding area\, Rachel explores the relationship between the local rivers\, lakes\, and creeks\, and the organisms that reside within and in tandem with them.\n\n  The family-favorite installation\, Fantastical Forest. This interactive installation explores the intersection where nature and art meet. It was designed by local artist Lucy Gafford with the help of Ben Kaiser and Vanessa Quintana.\n\n\n\nDuring the Open House\, the whole family can gather in our Education Wing to make an art project inspired by the exhibitions currently on view at MMofA. Admission to the Museum will be free all day in addition to the afternoon activities.\n\n\n\nThe Museum's exhibitions and programs are supported by the City of Mobile\, Mobile County\, The Alabama State Council on the Arts\, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
