Description
Barnwell Crawfish Derby Returns April 18 to Support Historic Schoolhouse Restoration FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Barnwell Community Organization invites residents and visitors to the 5th Annual Barnwell Crawfish Derby on Saturday, April 18, 2026, for an evening of great food, live music, and community celebration—all in support of preserving a treasured piece of local history. The event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Oak Hollow Farm in Barnwell, featuring a traditional crawfish boil with all the fixings, live entertainment, the Barnwell Derby Cornhole Tournament, and the crowd-favorite Derby Duck Drawdown. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the restoration of the Historic Barnwell Community Center, a 108-year-old landmark and one of the few remaining wooden schoolhouses in Baldwin County—believed to be the last surviving Rosenwald-type schoolhouse in the area. The Barnwell Community Organization, a local nonprofit, is leading ongoing efforts to preserve and revitalize the structure as a hub for community gatherings and future generations. “This event is about more than just a great time—it’s about honoring our roots and investing in the future of our community,” organizers said. Community members are encouraged to attend, and local businesses are invited to support the event through sponsorship opportunities that contribute to the continued restoration of this historic site.
