FAIRHOPE, Ala. -- Fairhope Brewing Company is bringing a taste of Germany back to the Eastern Shore with its 6th Annual Oktoberfest on Friday, September 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairhope taproom. The celebration will feature specialty beers, German-inspired food, live music, and the brewery’s annual stein hoisting competition, with no cover charge to attend.
The Fairhope taproom will feature four specialty beers on tap for the celebration, including Fairhope Brewing’s signature Oktoberfest Lager, along with a Hefeweizen, Dunkel, and Pilsner.

“Oktoberfest has become one of those events we look forward to every year because it brings together everything we love about the taproom,” said Jim Foley, managing partner of Fairhope Brewing Company. “We get to brew some great traditional German styles, serve up good food, bring in live music and watch people get way more competitive than you’d expect over holding a stein of beer. It’s a fun day, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly what we want it to be.”

Brad and Brianna will kick off live music at 12 p.m., followed by the brewery’s first ever Stein Hoisting Competition at 4 p.m., where competitors can put their strength and determination to the test for Oktoberfest bragging rights. College football will be playing on TVs throughout the taproom, while German sausages and other German fare will be available throughout the day while supplies last, with proceeds benefiting the Baldwin Humane Society. And of course, guests are encouraged to dress the part. Break out the lederhosen and dirndls. Oktoberfest attire is highly encouraged.
