FAIRHOPE, Ala.
— Hope Community invites runners, walkers, and local families to lace up for the 3rd Annual Our Roots Run Deep 5K on Saturday, January 9, 2027. Starting and ending at the historic Anna T. Jeanes School property in Fairhope South, this annual event offers participants a morning of movement, community connection, and local history.
The morning will officially kick off at 8:00 a.m., with Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan on hand to deliver opening remarks and signal the start of the race. Proceeds from the 5K directly support Hope Community’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the historic Anna T. Jeanes site into a thriving community center. Future plans for the grounds include a teaching farm, community kitchen, outdoor gardens, and walking paths—preserving an essential piece of Fairhope's history while expanding health and
educational opportunities for local residents.
“The Our Roots Run Deep 5K is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of togetherness, history, and wellness,” said Lindsay Lefever, Hope Community’s Farming and Operations Manager. “Whether you’re a competitive runner aiming for a personal record or walking with friends and family, every step supports our mission of nurturing unity through food, healing, and education.”
