FAIRHOPE, Ala. (March 30, 2022) – The Morgan Thompson Foundation, of Fairhope, Al will host the Brains and Brews Fundraiser to benefit the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) of Fairhope High School. The event is set for Saturday, April 23 at Little Whiskey, located at 14 N. Church Street in Fairhope from 5PM to 8PM. This fun evening will include Rock-n-Roll Bingo, with adult guest bartenders from Fairhope High School serving drinks for tips. This is a free event.

“In striving to fulfill its mission, the Morgan Thompson Foundation has funded and hosted several events, awards, and scholarships for the Fairhope IB Programme over the years.  Starting with incoming Freshmen, the MTF hosts the Freshmen Fiesta for orientation. During the junior and senior years of the Programme, students must pay $1,000 in fees. MTF awards scholarships to cover these fees based on financial need. MTF also provides a $1,500 scholarship to one graduate based on merit. Upon graduation and awarding of the IB diploma, MTF honors graduates and those earning IB diplomas with up to a $100 award. These are just some examples of what we would like to continue to fund; however, we need resources to do it. We hope this event will help us raise sufficient funds to not only continue these efforts but to improve the support we give,” states MTF President, Kimberly Walker.

The evening’s activities include two rounds of bingo (cards available for purchase at the event) with prizes awarded to the winners. A prime student parking space for next year will also be a popular auction item.  Sponsorship and taxable donation opportunities are available leading up to the event.  For more information, email Kimberly Walker at or visit the Morgan Thompson Foundation Facebook page.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMME

The International Baccalaureate Organization was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1968 as a non-profit educational foundation. Its original purpose was to facilitate the international mobility of students preparing for university by providing schools with a curriculum and diploma recognized by universities around the world. Since then, its mission has expanded, and it now seeks to make an IB education available to students of all ages. In the thirty years since its founding, the IB diploma has become a symbol of academic integrity and intellectual promise, and is considered the “Cadillac” of education. IB students demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, both in terms of the mastery of subject content and in the development of the skills and discipline necessary for success in a competitive world. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, may offer the Diploma Programme which now includes over 200,000 students encompassing 1,462 schools in 117 countries.
