Mobile Bay NEP Announces New Communications Manager

Join us in welcoming Marti Messick to the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program team. Marti Messick is the new Communications Manager effective May 2022. She will be instrumental in working with our partner organizations to engage key stakeholders and the general public in our shared mission of promoting the wise stewardship of the water quality and living resources in Alabama’s estuaries.

Marti has been teaching communication courses for the past nine years at area colleges and universities including the University of South Alabama, the University of Mobile, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She also served as the Director of Communications for Foley United Methodist Church. She currently sits on the University of Mobile Alumni Board and the South Wesley Board at the University of South Alabama.  Her husband, Dendy, is a longtime chemistry teacher at Foley High School. Together they have five daughters, two sons-in-law, and one granddaughter. Marti enjoys hiking, birdwatching, kayaking, reading, and podcasts.

The mission of the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) is to promote the wise stewardship of the water quality and living resources of Alabama’s estuaries and coasts. MBNEP is one of 28 federally authorized estuary programs in the United States.

Please feel free to contact Marti with your questions, event information, or other ways we can better serve our communities in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. She can be reached at our downtown Mobile office at 251-431-7937 or at mmessick@mobilebaynep.com.
