NEW MEDICAL COMPLEX EXPANDS OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CARE FOR RESIDENTS OF BALDWIN COUNTY

Baldwin Bone & Joint Orthopaedic Surgeons Pleased to Offer Outpatient Surgery Close to Home for Patients

DAPHNE, AL - (Sept. 1, 2023) - Quality health care closer to home, was the August 1 ribbon-cutting celebration message of the Baldwin County Surgery Center. Located at 21890 AL-181, Fairhope, AL 36532, the 8-acre campus, 24,000 square-foot ambulatory surgery center, including 6 operating rooms, offers an array of services. All are within reach of Baldwin County patients.

“As the region’s only academic health system, we are excited to bring this surgery center – and the talented team working there,” said Owen Bailey, M.S.H.A., FACHE chief executive officer of USA Health, based in Mobile.  “This much-needed facility will improve access to exceptional healthcare, and it will bring our specialists closer to the people of Baldwin County.”

Services offered include pediatrics, orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, podiatry, ear nose and throat, and more. “It was something that was missing,” noted Dr. John Todd, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Baldwin Bone & Joint and Medical Director of USA Baldwin County Surgery Center.  “We have great hospitals and health care here in Baldwin County, but free-standing ambulatory surgery centers offer a different concept, convenience, safety, and cost, that the inpatient setting just does not provide.”  (Photo: John Todd, M.D.)

Medical officials also noted that in many cases, the new center offers less complicated access than often experienced in traditional hospitals. “We are proud of the partnerships our academic health system has established with community physicians on the Eastern Shore,” adds John Marymont, M.D., M.B.A., vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. He added, “This new surgery center is an example of how our successful collaborations expand access to healthcare and benefit those who live and work in Baldwin County and surrounding areas,” – all available on the eastern side of Mobile Bay.
