University of South Alabama to Host Data Analytics Summit

A diverse group of data-minded professionals from industry, business, academia, nonprofits and local governments will gather for the South Alabama Center for Business Analytics, Real Estate and Economic Development (SABRE) Analytics Summit on the University of South Alabama campus.

Data analytics is the complex process of examining big data to uncover information such as hidden patterns, correlations, market trends and customer preference that can help organizations make informed business decisions.

Attendees of this one-day event will learn about the latest trends in practical applications of business analytics while exchanging knowledge with peers in a field that will radically change the way we live and do business in the future. “Business Analytics involves gathering, parsing, and analyzing data to inform insights and enable forecasts based on immense amounts of available data,” said Reid Cummings, SABRE executive director. “Increasingly, businesses both large and small are turning to business analytics as an efficient and accurate process for supporting business decisions aimed at overcoming challenges and increasing revenues.”

The SABRE Analytics Summit speakers include keynote Brian Mooneyham, V.P. of data strategy operations, Wells Fargo; Maggie Norton, senior manager for planning & maintenance, Aker Solutions; Nick Whatley, predictive analytics manager, Alabama Power; Scott Nix, marketing services manager, Alabama Power; Brent Dudley, president, 68 Ventures; Joseph Clayton, business analyst, 68 Ventures; Michelle Crowe, chief marketing officer, E-worc; Hayden Scott, senior financial analyst, Infirmary Health; Mary Murray Moss, director of finance, clinical and business operations, Infirmary Health; Chris Cox, principal, Boulder Insight; Kevin Swearigen, director of UX and marketing, Boulder Insight; Dr. Gia Wiggins, president, Morale Resource, LLC; and Dr. Joe Hair, Ph.D. Program and Cleverdon Chair, Mitchell College of Business.

“Our speakers will address multiple trending topics within the field of analytics, such as data governance, data visualization, and analytics tools and strategies among others,” said Jana Stupavsky, SABRE assistant director. “After the event, we hope to collect a thorough feedback in order to continue building a coastal analytics community by delivering relevant content.”

The SABRE Analytics Summit will be held in the MacQueen Alumni Center November 18, 2021, from 8:15 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.
